A Little Inspiration for You Today – Well Worth the Read!!

The Wishing Well
by Anthony Fernando

On top of a hill overlooking a babbling brook stood a dilapidated stone well. The wooden frame which had once been used to raise water was broken and a discarded bucket sat on the ground nearby. The only thing that made this old well special was a small tarnished plaque that carried a three word inscription which read ‘The Wishing Well’.

One morning a young man named Richard came upon the well and read the small plaque. Richard was a cynical young man and he scoffed at the idea of a wishing well. However, he was also very greedy so he closed his eyes and wished for a large pot of gold just in case. He opened his eyes and looked around but nothing had changed.

As he prepared to leave, Richard happened to glance down into the well and to his amazement he saw a huge pot of gold floating at the bottom of the well. He immediately tried to reach down into the well but he could not reach the gold.

Next he tried to use a piece of wood to retrieve the gold but again he had no luck. After many frustrating attempts, Richard finally gave up. He cursed the wishing well and walked away. Instantly the pot of gold disappeared.

The following day a young man named William came across the well and he too read the small plaque that identified it as ‘The Wishing Well’. What William wanted more than anything else that morning was an engagement ring so that he could propose to his sweetheart Rebecca. He closed his eyes and made his wish. At first he saw nothing, but then as he glanced down into the well he saw the most beautiful diamond ring floating in an ebony box at the bottom of the well.  Like Richard, William first tried to reach down into the well and then tried to use a nearby piece of wood – all to no avail.

After a great deal of frustration, he sat back and reviewed his situation. Then suddenly, in a flash of inspiration he knew what he had to do. He picked up the old bucket and walked down to the babbling brook at the base of the hill. After filling the bucket with water, he walked back up the hill and poured the water into the well. To his delight, he noticed that the level of the water in the well rose ever so slightly.

With a hint of success to spur him on, William began transferring bucket loads of water from the brook to the well. He worked steadily all day carrying buckets of water up to the wishing well. With each bucket of water he poured into the well, the ring floated closer to the surface. Finally as the sun was beginning to set, William poured in another bucket of water and the ring came within his reach. He grasped the stunning diamond ring and with a spring in his step he set off to propose to his Rebecca.

The best part about this story is that the Wishing Well really does exist and is available to each and every one of us. Whenever you set a goal, your objective instantly becomes a ‘possibility’. It is as though it appears in the bottom of the wishing well. You can see it, but it is beyond your reach. Many people like Richard look for a quick and easy way to reach their goal but they inevitably get frustrated and walk away.

Those who achieve true success understand how life’s Wishing Well works. Like William, they recognize that they must put in the time and effort to fill their well before they can collect their prize.

Today I’d like to encourage you to decide what you really want from life’s wishing well and commit yourself to the process of filling your well in order to transform your dreams into reality.

Dare to Dream!

Quick Tip: The Best Times of Day to Communicate with your Facebook Network

Posted on
I have been thoroughly researching Facebook and it’s statistics for quite some time now and I continue to be incredibly impressed by this Social Media Machine.  500 Million users and more traffic than internet giants like Google…that is amazing!!  More than half of those active users log in everyday to stay connected with their friends, customers and business partners.  With that many users jumping on Facebook daily, as home business owners and bloggers trying to connect with your social network, it’s crucial to know when the best times are to get your messages out there for people to see.  We live in a very fast paced, busy world.  Some people only jump on Facebook for minutes a day to check their messages and their news feed.  Knowing what times of the day have the most traffic is essential to make sure your status updates and blog posts don’t go unnoticed.  So here you go:

Studies have shown that the top three times of the day with the most users logged in tend to be on weekdays at 11:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. EST.  Apparently, the biggest spike occurs at 3:00 p.m. EST on weekdays.  Also, the first fifteen minutes of each hour see the highest numbers which is likely due to people taking their breaks at work at the beginning of an hour versus the latter part of the hour.  And one last fun fact – fans are less active on Sunday versus any other day of the week.  I tested this out with my friend list and sure enough, I had the most friends online during those periods. Interesting stuff, huh?

Posting at other times of the day is fine too.  If you’ve built up your fan base/friends list big enough, you will always have people online to view your messages.  However, wouldn’t you rather post during a time where double or triple the amount of people will be more likely to see it??  Timing is everything!  Some food for thought:)

Hope you’re all having a productive and beautiful day!!!

Is the Economy Affecting your Home Business?

Posted on
Since 2008, I have witnessed so many of my friends and family struggle financially during these hard economic times.  It has become a very familiar thing to hear the news that one of them lost their job, their hours were cut back, their house is in foreclosure, etc. You know the deal, everyone is talking about it.  Turn on CNN, look at the front page of the newspaper, scroll through the news feed on Facebook and you’ll see people talking about it daily.  It is the main subject on all of our minds these days.  Each time I hear or see news like this, it just breaks my heart.  I never like to see anyone struggle.   And it’s not only affecting people financially, but emotionally as well.  Money is not everything, just like they say, but it sure does make things easier.

Over the past couple years, each time I would hear this news I would feel so incredibly grateful that I was able to maintain my financial responsibilities with ease, especially as a single mom.  I would be thankful everyday that I started my home business in 2006 and built it up to a very nice, more than full time income before this recession hit.  And as 2008 and 2009 passed, I was blessed to have continued growing within my business.  Then 2010 came along and for the first time, I personally felt the brunt of this recession.  For the first time in four years, I had to put forth the effort of a newbie to reach my goals.  For the first time, I plateaued.  I have to admit, it was very humbling and borderline discouraging at first.  But I truly believe that I got too comfortable and this was the push that I needed to continue growing and to make myself a better leader and home business owner.  So instead of running for the hills and jumping into another home based business or running out and getting a job, I embraced the obstacle.  I decided that I was more than capable of overcoming this challenge and it was time to go back to basics. If I did it once, I could do it again, right?  What was it in 2006 that made me reach my first and second management levels in five months?  What was it in 2007 that made me help many of my team members do the same?  What was it in 2008, that helped me fire my boss, come home full time to my kids and reach over 50k in lifetime residual income?  What was it all those years that helped me earn five Top Producers trips?  What was “it”?  “It” was that burning desire to do whatever it took to GET IT DONE!  “It” was getting up early and staying up late! “It” was always having faith and believing in the system that my amazing company and leaders had in place. “It” was believing that my kids deserved to have mommy home.  “It” was believing that I deserved success.  “It” was believing in myself!

Your success will be determined by your attitude and what you choose to focus on.  If you focus on the negative, that’s exactly what you will get.  If you focus on the positive, you will get the positive. Shift your focus from being down on your business and counting the negative to the reasons to be grateful for having your home business.  Shift your focus from what is not working to what WILL work.  It’s all about mindset and what you believe.  Here are just a few things that come to mind that you have to be grateful for in having a home based business:

  • You already know it.  Even if you haven’t reached your full goals yet, you have already built a foundation and you don’t want to throw that away.  If you think it’s challenging growing your current business this year, imagine starting a brand new one and starting from scratch knowing nothing.  THAT would be a challenge!
  • YOU have control of your income!  If you want bigger checks, make it happen!  Get to work!
  • You CANNOT be fired, laid off or dismissed.  YOU are your boss!
  • You are building something for YOU!  You deserve not to struggle. You deserve to have something of worth.  You deserve greatness!
  • You are home with your family!  There is no greater gift than to be able to spend time with your family.  Nothing of monetary value can compare….nothing!

I could go on and on.  Once you’re focused on what to be grateful for, get into action!  Here are some things to do to start growing again:

  • Focus on what you know – Instead of going into complete panic that your business has slowed down and going on a manhunt for the greener grass, go back to basics and find that “It” that you had in the beginning.  You know what you need to do to be successful, go do it!
  • Double your efforts – If you’re getting half the results today than you were getting before, double your efforts and even it out!  Work harder, work longer, don’t be afraid of hard work!  It builds character and will make you appreciate what you have accomplished even more.
  • If what you’re doing for lead generation right now isn’t working, do something else!  If you keep doing what you’re doing, you’ll keep getting the same results…period!
  • Choose not to let anything or anyone on the outside influence you in a negative way or pull you from your business.
  • Keep perspective – It could ALWAYS be worse.  The oldest saying in the book, right?  Well it’s true.  I lost my 28 year old sister to cancer in 2009.  That tragic loss has changed my perspective on everything in life.  What she would give to be here today struggling in this economy….  Be grateful you’re here to have problems.

The new year is quickly approaching!  Prepare yourself now to shake off any negative from 2010 and make 2011 your BEST year yet!!!!  You cannot do anything about yesterday but you can certainly do something about tomorrow.  This country needs a shift, be a part of the shift in the right direction!  Focus on the famous quote “If it is to be, it is up to me” and get your GAME ON!!!!

What it Takes to Become a Successful Work at Home Mom

Where My Work at Home Dream Began
Since you’re reading this, we most likely have the same ambitions…to be a successful work at home mom!  My dream to become a successful work at home mom began in 2004.  At the time, I was a stay at home mom of two beautiful angels. Brittani was three and Landon was one. From the outside, it looked like I had it all, a beautiful house, nice cars, I was home full time with my kids, my husband made really good money with his business, it appeared that my life was on easy street.  But that was the complete opposite of what was actually happening on the inside.  I was in a very unacceptable and unsafe marriage and I was pretty broken down. I was trapped financially but most of all emotionally. I needed to find financial independence and make a positive change for my kids and I.  It was so very important to me that my kids grow up in a positive and safe environment. So I started looking for a “Plan B”. I needed to make money but I also wanted to continue being home with my kids.  The only option….become a successful work at home mom!  And I’d love to say bringing this successful work at home mom dream to fruition was easy, but it wasn’t.  I searched long and hard through ALL the junk on the internet and almost gave up.

The Fork in the Road

I finally found my answer about two years later in January of 2006. I came across an ad for a home business but I was extremely skeptical. For the next four months, that ad kept slapping me right in the face.  I stopped and stared at the ad that spoke of “Financial Freedom from Home.”  The word that stuck out to me the most was “Freedom.”  I felt in my heart at that moment that I hit a fork in the road and that my decision here would either make or break me.  That’s when I decided to request some information.  My mentor called me and I got started on the spot.  I stayed up ALL night long doing the training and started working the next day. I had found my PLAN B!  Working at home has changed my life!  I look at myself now and I’m not even the same person I was five years ago. I have grown so much personally. I have conquered so many fears from from being a wife in fear, having a huge phone fear, having a leading a conference call fear, having a talk on stage fear, etc. All that is GONE!  Focusing on WHY I needed to work from home kept a FIRE lit inside of me to keep pressing forward and facing every fear.  And here are my beautiful WHYs:

My Journey to a Positive Change

My work at home journey has been amazing but it has not always been easy. My first year working at home was the worst AND best year of my life. I faced a very hard time in my life but made a decision to STAND UP AND FIGHT rather than falling down!  I went through a very nasty divorce, was literally scared into moving out of my house, my daughter had to switch schools and I had to get a full time JOB and put my little boy in daycare for the first time in his life. Up until I was able to replace that income and come home full time, my days went a little something like this. I would wake up at 5:00am, get everyone up and out to school. I had to peel a screaming three year old off of me every morning at daycare. His arms would be reaching out to me and he would scream over and over again “mommy no go.”  Then I would sit in traffic for an hour and a half just to get to work by 8:00. I would work my business on my fifteen minute breaks, my 30 minute lunch breaks and my hour and a half drive home in traffic. I would get home by 6:30, see my kids for an hour and a half, put them to bed and start working my business again until about midnight, sometimes later. Then I would wake up and start all over again. Was it hard work? Absolutely! Did I fall asleep on my computer some nights? Absolutely! Did my house get messy? Absolutely!  Did I feel guilty about not spending a lot of time with my kids? Absolutely!  Did I ever wonder if I was doing the right thing? Absolutely NOT!

I KNEW that finding success at home was going to make a HUGE difference in my family’s life and that it was going to bring me home again! I knew my situation was only temporary!! Making sacrifices for a year to come home versus working at a JOB for 40 more years was the best decision I have ever made in my entire life!!! My kids have a full time “happy” mommy again! A full time mommy with a full time work from home income! And that is an incredible blessing!  If someone would have told me five years ago that I would be a Top Producer in the work at home industry earning not only a full time income from home but earning MANY Top Producers trips, I wouldn’t have believed it.  It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you take the leap of faith and just go for it!

My Vision…and What’s in it for YOU!

I now have the best of both worlds, a career and the ability to be the mom I’ve always wanted to be. I have built a very successful business from home and am SO grateful for that. However, I continue to see many moms out there struggling to find work at home success! My passion is to help ALL moms, that want to, become successful WAHMs! That is my purpose and mission of this blog!  I have a lot of work at home knowledge and have helped MANY reach success as well.  I feel a huge calling to share what I know with all aspiring and existing work at home moms.  I will be sharing work at home ideas, tools to help you succeed and inspiration to keep you on track on your journey! And if you’ve ever worked at home, you know that there is SO much more to it than that. We have to be Savvy Moms!  With that being said, you will also find coupons/freebies, recipes, work/life balance tips on top of all the work at home goodies you will receive.

My Challenge and Hope for YOU!

You CAN become a successful work at home mom! Believe in yourself and work your butt off!  Fight to get your life back!  Fight for the life that you and your family deserve!  The end result is soooo worth it!  I am living proof. How many single moms do you know that can be home full time with their kids AND make a full time income? Go out there and MAKE your dream come true!  GAME ON!

Truly Custom Crunch, you will LOVE this!!!

A dear friend of mine, Stacey Hill, had a dream of being a full time work at home mom a few years ago. I remember when she told me she was going to take a cake decorating class and I thought “How cool and fun is that?!?” That’s when she found her passion in cake decorating and started her own home business called Truly Custom Cakery.  I believe this is Stacey’s gift, she is TRULY talented with her creations.  I have watched her grow with it over the past couple years and am SO very proud of her and happy for her success!  It is much deserved!  Truly Custom Cakery not only creates the most beautiful and creative cakes I’ve ever seen, but also gorgeous cupcakes, cookies and Stacey’s FAMOUS Truly Custom Crunch!

Stacey has been telling me about her Crunch since I’ve known her for the past five years.  I always wanted to try it but she lives in Pennsylvania and I live in Florida…little bit of a mileage gap:)  BUT, now she has incorporated her Crunch in with her Truly Custom Cakery business and provides shipping to all over the United States, wooohooo!!!  I was so excited when I opened my mailbox last week and found a package from Truly Custom Cakery.  Finally, I was going to get to experience The Crunch!

My kids were with me when I brought the package inside and of course they were jumping all around me and asking me over and over “What is it mommy, who’s it from, who’s it for??”  I was as excited as them but had to act a little more adult like about it:)  I pulled out the Crunch gift box and it looked like something straight out of a fancy little bakery shop.  It was in a high quality box with a gorgeous aqua and brown polka dotted bow (which my daughter now wears in her hair) and inside were two beautifully wrapped packages of Truly Custom Crunch.  I immediately opened one and gave a piece to my kids and then took one for myself and the kitchen just got quiet for a minute until the “mmmm’s” started.  The Crunch is popcorn, almonds and walnuts covered in delicious chocolate and other sweet secret ingredients. I’ve tasted other products with this concept over the years but NOTHING compared to this!  It was so yummy that we sat there and ate the whole first bag within five minutes.  And while everyone was sleeping a few nights later, I sat in my living room watching a movie and finished the entire second bag by myself.  It was fabulous “mommy time” for sure!

I would highly recommend Stacey’s Truly Custom Crunch for all your holiday needs.  Whether you choose to gift it or keep it for yourself, it is well worth it!!!  Your friends and family will feel as special as I did when I received my package:)

To place your order, you can visit http://www.trulycustomcakery.com/holiday-crunch/shop.html.  Enjoy!

Thank you Stacey for the special gift!  You are the best and I wish you continued success!
