How to Create a Business Page on Facebook

Posted on

Facebook101One of the first, easiest and FREE things you can do to market your AmeriPlan business is to create a Facebook page for your business. This is a page that is completely different and separate from your personal Facebook page.  You will, however, need to have a personal Facebook account before you can setup a business page.  So, if you haven’t already setup a personal Facebook account, that is your first step.

If you’re a little unclear about the differences between a personal Facebook account and a business account… it’s pretty simple.  A personal account is just that, personal and not to be used for advertising.  You can share basic things about your business on your personal page.  For example, you could update your status about how you “Just love working at home in your PJs” or how you are “So excited that you just saved $1,000 on your daughter’s braces using your AmeriPlan benefits.”  However, Facebook has rules that you are not permitted to full blown market your business on your personal page.  What that means is, you cannot create posts that can result in making money on your personal profile.  An example would be, “Save 80% on Dental, visit”  That is a post that is meant for a business page, not your personal profile.  On your business page, you can share anything about your business, ads and information about working with our team and our benefits, invite them to calls, invite them to visit your website, etc.

Here are the exact, simple steps that you can take to setup your page.  (I am recording this call and I will be sending out these written instructions along with the recorded call shortly after this call is over.)

1. Log in to your personal Facebook account.  In the sidebar on the left side of the screen, you will see a link that says “Create a Page”.  If you already have created pages, you won’t see “Create a Page” but instead just click on the link that says “Pages.”  Then you will see the “Create a page” link to click on.

2. Now you are on the Create a Page screen.  Here you will choose the type of page you will have.  “Company, Organization, or Institution” is a good one to choose.

3. Next, you’ll choose the category for your page. Select the “Choose a Category” drop down menu. If you’re creating a page just for the benefits side, you can select “Health/Beauty” or “Health/Medical/Pharmaceuticals.”  Either one is fine.  If you are doing a page for the work at home opportunity, you could select “Education” since you will be educating people on how to earn an income from home. There are also other options to choose from, feel free to choose another if you’d like.  These are just the ones that I have used.

4. Next you will name your Page. You can title your Page with your full name and your title. For example, “Kristie DeGraw, Independent AmeriPlan Representative.” I don’t recommend using your actual title. For example, “Regional Sales Director” because once you have 100 fans on your page, you will not be able to change the name of your page.  And we all KNOW that you will be promoting to SRSD and beyond real soon:)  Or feel free to get creative with the name of your page.  However, I do NOT recommend just naming your page “AmeriPlan.”  Whatever you choose for your page, just remember that once you hit 100 fans, there is no changing it. Once you’ve entered the name of your page, check the box that says “I agree to Facebook Pages Terms.” Then click the “Get Started” button.

5. Now you will see a screen that will take you through three steps to set up your page.

  • Add a description and website for your page.  For the description, this is the little blurb that will appear below your cover image, as well as on your About page. Add a description for your business that will encourage people to want to “Like” your page and even to find out more about you and what you do.  For the website, add your website that you’re promoting, this can be your Freedom at Home Team site, your membership site, a blog, etc.
  • Choose a unique Facebook web address to make it easier for people to find your page.  For example, my page name is “The Savvy WAH Mom.”  So I chose “TheSavvyWAHMom” for the ending of my unique page name URL, so it’s  Be sure you are certain that you want to keep the page name you created before you choose to use the page name in your site URL.  Because once you set the URL, it cannot be changed.
  • You will then be asked, “Are you a real organization, school or government?” Click “Yes. “
  • You will then be asked, “Will (Whatever your page name is) be the authorized and official representation of this organization, school or government on Facebook?” Click “Yes.” However, If you just choose the name “AmeriPlan” for your page, which again I do not recommend, do not select yes for this option because you are not the official representation for the company AmeriPlan.
  • Then click “Save Info”

6. Now you will be prompted to add your profile photo. This is the main picture for your Page that everyone will see when you post anything on Facebook. So pick a good, happy picture of yourself.  I do not recommend using a logo instead of a picture.  People want to do business with a person not a logo.  A picture of you is much more welcoming and will set you apart from others. So once you have chosen a picture, Click the “Upload From Computer” link and select your picture from the files on your computer. Then once it uploads, click the “Next” button.

7. Next, you will be prompted to add your page to your favorites.  This will put your page in the left sidebar of your Facebook home page for easy access.  Click “Add” and then “Next.”

8. On the next page, it will prompt you to “Like” your own page so you can have your first Like:)

9. Now it will direct you to your Facebook page that you just created. You will see an Admin Panel at the top. As your Page grows and fans interact, you’ll see notifications and messages here, as well as analytics, once you have at least 30 fans.

10. Even though you see your page all setup, you’re not done personalizing it yet:) Now, you need to click on the “Add a Cover” tab to add a Cover Photo which is the big photo across the top of your page.  You can choose a picture of yourself and kids or a nice picture and quote for a work at home page.  Or if it’s a benefits page, choose something more related to that.  However, technically Facebook states that you cannot place advertisements that have your websites on them as your cover photo.  Once you’ve selected what picture you’d like to add, you will see a pop up informing you of Cover Photo guidelines. Click the “Okay” button.  The “Add a Cover” menu then appears (you may need to scroll down a little to see it.) Choose “Upload Photo.” Select your photo from your computer. Once you’ve selected it, Facebook will display a portion of it within the space. You have the option of clicking and dragging the photo so the portion you choose is displayed. Once you like the way it looks, click the “Save Changes” button.

11. Just like on your Facebook Profile, you can share status updates, photos, links, events and more from the Status Update box on the left below your About information.

12. Once you’ve shared some content, it’s time to tell your friends about your new Page! Scroll up to the Admin panel of your Page (above the cover photo). There are several ways to invite people. You can click the “Build Audience” drop-down and choose “Invite Friends” (for Facebook friends on your personal account) or Invite Email Contacts (for people you’re not friends with on Facebook). You can also click the “Invite Friends” link in the New Likes section in the bottom-left corner (this will only appear here until you have enough people who have liked your Page.) Finally, the Invite Friends section on the bottom right also displays friends it suggests you invite, and you can click the “See All” link to invite more friends.

13. Choosing any of the Invite Friends on Facebook options will bring up the Invite Friends dialog box. From here you can select any friends you want to invite to like your Page. By default, Facebook displays friends that you’ve recently interacted with on Facebook. However you can use the drop-down box in the top-left of this box to choose from other groups of friends, or all friends. Click the box next to each friend you want to invite to like your Page, and then click the “Submit” button. Once you click the Submit button, your friends will receive a notification that you’ve invited them to like your Page.

So now that you’ve set up your Facebook Page, it’s time to go out and share great content, build a community, and get to know people. If you’re wondering what to post on your page and how to build your fan base, I recently hosted a call on this topic.  You can find it on our team site at on the weekly calls page.  It is the call titled “Facebook Marketing 101″ in the left sidebar.  You can also visit my blog at and review the “Facebook Marketing” tab for more tips on building a Business Facebook page.

Also, find me on Facebook at so I can be one of your first fans!!  I will also share your page on our team Facebook page to help you start building your page right away:)  And please come “Like” my business page at  Following my page will also give you great ideas of things you can post on your page.

21 Quick Tips to Help You Build a Successful Home Business

Posted on

business-success-quotes-224x300People ask me all the time “What is your secret? What is it that you are doing to reach success, can you give me some tips? I want to be a successful work at home mom too!!” These 21 tips are my “Secret” and if you follow them everyday consistently, you too will be a six figure earner in the work at home industry!  I TRULY believe that!

1. Better listening means more enrollments.  Focus on your prospects needs rather than yours. How can you help THEM?  Listen for their why.  Engage with them. You will create a connection with your prospect if they can hear that you care.  This is how you will become a master recruiter.

2. Smile on your prospecting calls.  They will hear the kindness and excitement in your voice.  Take the saying “Smile and Dial” to heart… it works!!

3. Focus on how many people you can talk to versus how many people you can enroll. When you’re focused on results, it can stress you out.  Instead, focus on talking to as many people as you can.  Think of each conversation whether they enroll or not as a success.  When you do this, the enrollments WILL follow!

4. If an advertising method isn’t working, try something else. Don’t dwell on what is not working, go out and find something that DOES work!

5. Do something today completely out of your comfort zone.  Like TODAY, when you’re done reading this!  Whatever makes you uncomfortable but you know in the back of your mind that not doing it is holding you back from success… DO IT!!!!

6. Instead of focusing on the negative, find something positive to focus on. Don’t let negativity overpower your day. You have a choice. Is this going to be a good day or a bad day?  Also, your team is watching you, your prospects are listening to you, Attitudes are contagious, what you feel, they will feel.

7. Be grateful for what you already have.  When you’re focusing on the good things in your life (and you have them, even if you think you don’t), it’s hard to be negative or feel down.  Living with an attitude of gratitude makes all the difference.

8. Make someone smile today.  Spread happiness.  Be Kind. Not only will you make someone’s day, they will turn around and bless someone else with their happiness.  And this in turn will put a smile on your face!

9. Readers are leaders… what are you currently reading? Grab a good book, read a chapter a day and watch your life and your business transform into greatness!

10. Have you listened to a training call this week?  Your team’s training calls are part of your lifeline. No matter what level you are with your business, don’t ever feel as if you’ve arrived. You must always focus on growing!

11. Stay in contact with your enroller! This is the other half of your lifeline. Don’t wait for them to contact you.  They are waiting and excited to hear from you!  That’s when they know you’re serious about your business.

12. Make your team members feel as special as they are.  Be a cheerleader for your team.  Recognize them for every victory, big or small.  It will make their day and push them to work harder!

13. Cheer for yourself!!!  Believe in YOU!  YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!  Your business will be as successful as you think you can make it!

14. Laugh off your mistakes and keep pressing forward. Take each mistake and learn from it.  Embrace them, they will make you better!

15. Take one day off per week to enjoy your family. After all, aren’t they what you are working for?

16. Make a to-do list every morning.  Sounds simple, right?  This one tip will help you to stay organized and on task.  Try it and enjoy the feeling at the end of the day when you know you’ve had a productive day.

17. Treat your business like a business, not a hobby.  You have to be THE HARDEST BOSS YOU’VE EVER HAD! Respect your business, show up for work, be consistent, and you will earn business income instead of hobby income.

18. Don’t spend too much time on Facebook, pick up the phone!  Facebook is an amazing marketing tool for us in this industry, use it.  But don’t get sucked in to just sitting there all day scrolling through the news feed.

19. Lead by example. Don’t just talk about it, get out there and DO IT!  I never ask my team to do anything I’m not willing to get out there and do myself.  If you want your team to be top producers, BE a top producer yourself!

20. Small action steps compounded over time turn into something great. CONSISTENCY is the secret to building a successful home business!!!  Touch your business every single day.

21. Don’t quit before the blessing. The first year in network marketing is the hardest. It’s new, your learning the ropes, finding your niche, programming yourself to have a business mindset. All the successful people that you see in this industry that have the success that you want, they ALL went through their first year, they all had bumps and obstacles. YOU are not the only one that is hitting obstacles. Obstacles are a part of life. They are a test to see what you’re made of. So if you want success, know that you have to go through all of that first before you reach the blessing. And the blessing guys… is so worth it!

GO for greatness!!  You deserve it!!

Which one tip is your favorite?  Leave me a comment below:) I would love to hear from you!

Cheering you on,

A Little Inspiration for You… Happy Friday!

journeyI ran across this little message this morning and just had to share with you guys.  This one really touched me as there is just SO much truth to it and it very much applies to our journey here in the home based business world.  ENJOY and have a very Happy Friday!!!

It is easy to come up with reasons why you aren’t where you want to be.

It takes work and discipline to push yourself a little every day until one day you are where you want to be.

The amazing thing for those that have done it, you look back and realize somewhere a long the way, it stopped feeling like work.

Somewhere along the way a weight was lifted as you moved closer to your dreams.

You realized you were tired of focusing on what wasn’t working and you were excited about what was.

… For those that the rest of the world sees as “Lucky” those individuals had doubts, fears and missed opportunities just like us.  For those that the rest of the world sees as “Lucky” those individuals had doubts, fears and missed opportunities just like us.

Yet, somewhere along the way they decided to change their attitude, their approach and ultimately their life…

100K in Residual Income with AmeriPlan… Done!!

Posted on
cadillac2100K in residual income… wow!!!  WHAT a year it has been!! A new Cadillac, I got married, hit RVP and 75K, just bought a new house and now 100K! I’m so very grateful for this life that AmeriPlan has given me the opportunity to design. I always KNEW this day would come, it was never a matter of IF for me, just a matter of when. That belief system along with a never ending level of consistency, a good attitude and THE BEST TEAM ON THE PLANET is why I am sitting here writing this! And I have to admit, this feels good. It feels really good:)

When I first started this business in 2006, I was a stay at home mom of a two and five year old. I was in a very bad marriage and needed to find a way out, but living the typical single parent lifestyle and letting my kids be raised in daycare centers did not appeal to me at all. We deserved better! So I started looking for a better way, a Plan B. I had been looking for work at home for about two years when I found AmeriPlan. I wouldn’t give anything a try, I was a huge skeptic. When I found AmeriPlan, I got excited! I had finally found a company with elite credentials that operated with integrity. I had found my Ameri “Plan B”!! I came into this business with absolutely NO experience, a HUGE phone fear, no internet marketing skills, no knowledge of the industry, to say I was green is an understatement. But what I did have was a phenomenal attitude and a willingness to learn and GET GOOD at this!! I knew that if someone else was out there doing this successfully, that I could too. I never doubted that for a second. So I got busy, didn’t make excuses and never looked back!!

My journey with AmeriPlan has been amazing, but it hasn’t always been easy. I hit many obstacles and made a lot of mistakes. But I jumped right over the obstacles and decided to turn my mistakes into opportunities to learn and get better. A few months into my business, I went through a divorce, had to give up our home, my kids had to change schools and I had to get a full time job outside of the home about an hour and a half across town. My days were very hectic, I was truly a part of the single mom, rat race. I would sit in my car on my lunch breaks and make my calls. I enrolled a lot of people in that parking lot in the hot, Florida sun! There is no doubt that it was challenging. BUT, I KNEW that it was only temporary! I KNEW that making the sacrifices would be worth it! I set a goal to replace that income in twelve months and come back home to my kids. I didn’t reach that goal in 12 months but I did in 14 months!! The next few months were incredible… home with my kids, building a business that I love, life was good:)

But a couple months later, my family faced a huge tragedy. My little sister, who was only 28 years old, was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Because of AmeriPlan, I was able to spend just about everyday of her last 10 months of her life with her. I would pack up my laptop and phone and just go be with her. We laughed, we cried, we reminisced, that time was priceless to me. It was time that I was not going to get back. If I had still been working at a job, I wouldn’t have been able to do that. During that time, I kept working my AmeriPlan business, even if it was just a little everyday. Having the blessing of residual income during that time was HUGE for me. My check still came, my check still grew. THAT is the power of what we are working for here! And during that time, my AmeriPlan family showered me with so much love! I had already known that AmeriPlan was my home but that was just another confirmation that I was exactly where I needed to be!! This is SO much more than a business!!

Of course there are so many that have helped me reach this goal:

A HUGE thank you to my AmeriPlan mom and dad, Janie and Michael:) WHAT would I do without you!! You have been my inspiration from day one! You’ve helped me in so many ways and I’m just so incredibly grateful for both of you. Thank you for always believing in me. You have changed my life and I love you both!

Dennis and Daniel, thank you for this opportunity!!! I hope you realize how many lives your vision has changed and will continue to change. Thank you for giving us all the tools this year to take our businesses to a whole new level… the best compensation plan EVER, the Cadillac Club, all the bonuses and the promotions. I appreciate you both!!

The corporate staff, thank you for all that you do for us behind the scenes everyday!

To my husband Jason, thank you for believing in me and AmeriPlan and for putting up with my “I’m not going to stop working until it’s done” attitude:)

To my babies, Brittani and Landon, you are my everything and the whole reason why I work this so hard everyday! Thank you so much for being so patient and for cheering me on while mommy built our business!! We did it!!!

To my AmeriPlan sisters, Kelly O’Donnell, Maria Rappa, Patti Triplett, Jayme Boyles, Terri Medine-Dunlap, Michelle Stefferson, Winnie Woody, Kathleen Strooband, Amy Jacobs, Kim Blessing, Rotonya Jackson, Theresa Swendra, Michelle Everett, Ildi Veres, Brittany Winfree, Debbie Hanson, Lisa Simpson, Laurie Krawczyk and my AmeriPlan brother, David Mayo – Thank you all for being by my side and making this business SO much fun!! I can’t wait for convention!! :)

To my incredible, unstoppable team, which I wish I could list EVERY single one of your names here, thank YOU from the bottom of my heart for sharing this vision with me and for being a part of my life!! I would NOT be here without you!!! You are all so very special to me and I am TRULY looking forward to seeing you all reach new levels in 2013!!

For everyone working on their AmeriPlan dream, you can do this too! I am not anything extraordinary, I’ve just been here a little longer than you. Get to work, make sacrifices, don’t make excuses and don’t let people steal your dreams! They are YOUR dreams and YOU are in control of them!! Be the leader, stay laser focused and keep pressing forward!! It is ALL SO VERY WORTH IT!!! If you want this, GO GET IT!! There is so much opportunity in AmeriPlan right now! We can’t wait to see ALL of you earning 100K and beyond!!
GAME is ON!!!

Lots of love,

Kristie DeGraw

Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I am reflecting on all that I have to be thankful for. There is a long mental list, I am truly blessed on so many levels. Just thought I would share some of my list with you:) I am so incredibly thankful for…

1. My healthy, happy kids who drive me crazy at times but light up my life and give me purpose and joy.

2. My family who can be so dysfunctional at times but always feels like home.

3. My Health. Sounds silly at 34 years young, but I lost my sister to cancer three years ago. She was only 28. I learned first hand how truly valuable health is and how without it, other worries can seem so insignificant.

4. My lifelong friends who are so dear to me and understand that when I’m quiet, something is wrong.

5. My home business which has allowed me not only the freedom to be home with my kids, with a more than full time income, but also has helped me to grow everyday into a better person and leader.

6. My team who inspires me and without their hard work, I would not be where I am today in my home business.

7. My attitude which allows me to see things in a positive light and stand up and continue fighting through any storm.

8. God, who loves me no matter what mistakes I make and who seems to always lead me in the right direction… even if the direction didn’t seem so right at the time.

9. For you! Thank you for taking the time to read this and other posts on The Savvy WAHMom. It is an honor to be able to share my heart with you:)

What are you thankful for? I would love for you to share!

With all of that being said…Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours!! May your day be blessed and filled with special friends and family, lots of laughter and smiles and delicious food cooked with love!

Many blessings,

What Residual Income Can Do For YOU!

Posted on
Having a source of passive/residual income in today’s economy is essential. Back in the day, people flocked to real estate to create their passive income. And they did very well with it for quite some time. However, we all know where that market has gone…into the dirt. In these tough economic times of layoffs and people’s retirement accounts and dreams disappearing, the brilliant financial minds out there like Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki and Warren Buffett now recommend network marketing to people to create their passive/residual income. And before turning your nose up at the thought of network marketing, know that it’s SO much more than the “old school chasing friends and family down” days that have been embedded in people’s minds. There is no more having to approach your friends and family to buy products/services and join your home business. It’s SO much more than that. I’ve been in this industry for almost six years and have never one time approached a friend or family member and don’t ever plan to. LOVE them dearly, they are so important to me and I treasure them but it’s just not my thing. There is a WHOLE world out there on the internet that are looking for a network marketing business from home that don’t need to be “sold” on the concept. When the big dogs, Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump and Warren Buffett put their seal of approval all over network marketing, people started to get their noses out of the air and started paying attention.  The AWESOME thing about creating a residual income with Network Marketing is it doesn’t require a lot of capital upfront, like real estate does, for example. Anyone with a good attitude, persistence and a lot of self motivation can do it. And while those three qualities may weed out many, it still leaves a door open for average people…like me.

So, what’s the big deal about having a residual income?  Residual income is a beautiful thing, you do the work one time and that income continues to follow you month after month, year after year. I am still receiving residual income every month for business I put on the books in 2006! You can’t beat that! This type of passive income not only keeps you set financially but it allows you to focus on things in your life that are most important, your family, your relationships, enjoying life, all those things we cherish but so many don’t have themselves setup to put first. Bottom line, it gives you freedom!!

My sister and I.

My residual income has not only allowed me to be home with my kids for the past few years but it’s touched me on an even deeper level. In October 2008, my family faced a horrible tragedy. My little sister who was only 28 years old was diagnosed with terminal cancer (Melanoma) and given less than a year to live. She fought hard for ten months but we lost her on 8/21/09. During those ten months, I was able to spend time with her for hours just about everyday. We laughed, we cried, we spent quality time together, time that I could never replace. If I wouldn’t have had a strong residual income, I wouldn’t have been able to do that. So I’m truly grateful for my home business and my residual income for giving me the freedom to spend time on what was truly important to me. I worked around my sister, my checks still came, my checks still grew! What a blessing that I didn’t have to worry about finances during a time where money should be the least of anyone’s worries.

We all have things come up in our lives, divorces, sick family members, injuries, child birth, spouses getting laid off, etc. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a residual income already coming to you every month when those things come up?  A guaranteed check in the mail every month certainly makes things a lot easier, I know from personal experience. If you are already working on building a residual income for yourself and your family, good for you! Keep on working hard to grow it, it will come in handy through the years. If you haven’t started to build your residual income, what are you waiting for? Find your opportunity and get to work on it, it is SO worth it!

So grateful for my residual income,

Two Tips that Save the Day During Christmas Break!

Posted on
Woohooo Christmas Break is here! No alarm clocks, no homework, pjs all day, Christmas activities and preparations for the big day and much more! This is my favorite time of year! That’s the exciting stuff about having the kids home for two and a half weeks. But with the good, comes the challenges as well. The “Mommy I’m bored, there’s nothing to do’s” and the “Mommy, she hit me” and us moms wanting to pull our hair out…all that drama. My kids are seven and almost ten and that is full force in my house at times. It can be incredibly stressful especially when I’m trying to work my business at home. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I’m the boss and I’m in control of how this day will go. The truth is all you have to do is have a plan and keep the kids busy. It won’t completely solve every single issue for the day. However, it will make things a lot easier and everyone will be happy and enjoy their day. After all, that is why we’re working at home in the first place…to create a better and happier life for our families!! Here are a couple things that will help your day working at home with the kids home run a little smoother:
  • Schedule what time(s) you will work - When you’re working on building a successful home business, you must touch your business every single day, no matter what time of year it is. Consistency is GOLD and will make or break you. It creates momentum and will prevent you from getting rusty also. Schedule a few blocks of time throughout the day that you will give the kids an activity to keep them occupied and you can focus on your business. For example, right now I am cuddled up on the sofa with my kids and they are watching A Christmas Carol while I work on this post. Everyone is happy and mommy is being productive.
  • Schedule what time(s) you will play - Yes, you must touch your business every single day to become a successful work at home mom. But you also have to remember what you are working for. Set aside time throughout the day that is just to play with the kids. After this block of time working this morning, we are going to go Christmas shopping for a few last minute gifts. Then we will come home, I will work a little while they are having lunch then we will go outside and play. This keeps everyone happy.

For ideas on activities to help keep your kids busy and having fun, check out my previous post 10 Things for Kids to Do While Mom is Working.

Scheduling your time will help out tremendously. Don’t just give up on your business during the Christmas weeks. Even if it is a little slow, you are still building a foundation for the months to come. In the home based business industry, one of our busiest times of year is the first couple months of the year. People are looking to make a positive change in their lives, they want to get out of debt, start a new career, etc. Working in December is THE perfect time to get ready for that by talking with people and building your pipeline. That way when January comes, you will have people coming back to you ready to rock and roll. You want to take advantage of that!

My best piece of advice for managing it all is to always be where you are. If it’s time to play with the kids, focus on them 100%. Don’t be thinking about what you should be doing in your business and vice versa. That will help you to do your very best at whatever it is you are working on at that very moment! You can build your business AND create beautiful memories with your children this holiday season!

Wishing you a VERY happy and blessed Christmas break!!

How I Got 400 New Fans on My Facebook Page For Free, in Five Days!

Posted on
I have been dying to share this with you guys for days! Every time I find something that works beautifully for me in my home business, I want to shout it from the rooftop to help EVERY single WAHM I know reach greater heights of success in their business! After all, we are all in this together and by sharing, we are paying it forward and helping many reach their dream of being a work at home mom. This is a movement guys…jump on the bus and be a part of something incredible! No more bosses, no more rat race, no more daycares…that’s a beautiful thing!

SO, how I got 400 new fans on my Facebook fan page (FOR FREE!) in just five days…

I was scrolling through Facebook last Friday and ran across a fan page called Addicted to Networking. It definitely peaked my curiosity so I “Liked” the page and discovered an amazing tool to help increase my fans on my fan page. Addicted to Networking is a networking community dedicated to helping people build their fan pages. They have events called Like Ladders. When they announce a new like ladder through a status update, you comment with tag to your fan page. A tag is easy to create, you simply enter the @ symbol and then begin to type the name of your fan page. You will notice that once you start typing in your fan page name, a drop down menu will pop up and you just select your page. That creates a blue link also known as a tag. Then you travel up the ladder of comments and like the pages of the other people that have posted their fan pages. And most importantly, you give a shout out to Addicted to Networking on your page which they very much deserve. It is teamwork at it’s best and whoever thought of it is pure genius! After all, many people trying to build fan pages don’t start out with a big network of people and building their fan page can be difficult. This certainly helps!

After falling deeply in love with this concept, I went on a mission to find other pages just like it and ran across quite a few (and I’m sure there are many more out there I haven’t discovered yet as I’ve only been doing this for five days). Here are the others I have found:

If you are on a mission to build your fan page…RUN, don’t walk, over to those pages, click the “Like” button and join in on the fun of building your fan pages. I have not only increased my fans by over 400 but I have connected with some really amazing people in the process. What I’ve seen with this method is a whole lot of teamwork going on. It’s really awesome, positive energy and I’m so excited to be a part of it!

Finally, if I haven’t “Liked” your fan page(s) yet, please post them on my wall at TheSavvyWAHMom. I would absolutely love to be a part of helping you build your page!

Quick Tip: The Best Time of Day to Communicate with your Facebook Network

Posted on
I have been an avid Facebook user for quite some time and I continue to be incredibly impressed by this Social Media Machine.  750 Million users (and growing everyday) and more traffic than internet giants like Google…that is amazing!  More than half of those active users log in everyday to stay connected with their friends, customers and business partners.  With that many users jumping on Facebook daily, as home business owners and bloggers trying to connect with your social network, it’s crucial to know how and when to get your messages out there for people to see.
We live in a very fast paced, busy world.  Some people only jump on Facebook for minutes a day to check their messages and their news feed and many scroll through so fast that they miss stuff.  Some only communicate with Facebook through their smartphones for most of the week not allowing them as much convenience to click on links and check out what you are offering. Social networking is all about repetition. You won’t get much result, if any, if you only post your offers, specials, announcements, blog posts, etc. only once. Post them a couple times a week at different times in the day/week. Then you will start to see some results over time. There is a pscyhology to marketing, studies show that people have to see something at least three times before they actually SEE it.
Also, knowing what times of the day have the most traffic is essential in helping your posts have more visibility.

Studies have shown that the top three times of the day with the most users logged in to Facebook tend to be on weekdays at 11:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. EST.  Apparently, the biggest spike occurs at 3:00 p.m. EST on weekdays.  Also, the first fifteen minutes of each hour see the highest numbers which is likely due to people taking their breaks at work at the beginning of an hour versus the latter part of the hour.  And one last fun fact – fans are less active on Sunday versus any other day of the week.  I tested this out with my friend list and sure enough, I had the most friends online during those periods. Interesting stuff, huh?

Posting at other times of the day is fine too.  If you’ve built up your fan base/friends list big enough, you will always have people online to view your messages.  However, wouldn’t you rather post during a time where double or triple the amount of people will be more likely to see it??  Timing is everything!  Some food for thought:)

Happy Networking!

Super Quick Dinners – They’ll Think You are Super Mom!

Since I’ve been a full time work at home mom, I have welcomed all the challenges that come along with merging my inner domestic diva with my career at home.  It’s not always the easiest job, but it is right where I want to be and I wouldn’t have it any other way!  When I first decided to become a full time work at home mom, I knew it was going to be a balancing act and I would have to get a little savvy so I could make it all happen…and have fun in the process.

Cooking has always been a big part of my life.  Not only is it a huge hobby of mine but I love yummy, home cooked food!  However, spending an hour plus cooking everyday doesn’t fit in with my busy schedule.  So I improvise and am always on the lookout for recipes that I can throw together in a flash!

Here are the latest super quick recipes I have added to the rotation:
1. Rotisserie Chicken Enchiladas with Guacamole-Salsa Salad -

If you are a fan of Mexican food, you will love this!  I put the toppings on the side since my seven year old is not too fond of lettuce, tomato and olives.

I serve this over elbow macaroni for the kids and top with colby jack cheese.

3. Homestyle Chicken Tender Bake with Apple Streusel Pizza –

This recipe is so delicious that my kids beg me to make it again the next night!

4. Roast Pork and Black Beans on Rice with Zesty Herb Salad -

All four recipes are delicious and my whole family and any guests we have over eat every bite. And they all think I am super mom!!  Little do they know, it really doesn’t take much time to make these meals happen.

Looking forward to sharing more recipes with you in the future!  If you have any quick recipes that help you pull off your super, savvy mom gig, feel free to share.  My daughter and I are always looking for new recipes to try together….which is also spending quality time with her at the same time.  Multi-tasking at it’s best!!
